Network Engineer

GoNetspeed is looking for a Network Engineer to join our team.

Job Description

This individual should enjoy working multiple projects in a fast paced, team centric environment. The network engineer is responsible for provisioning both commercial and residential based servcies. The position is also responsible for trouble ticket escalations as needed. When not provisioning or working trouble tickets, the network engineer will assist in engineering projects necessary to help scale the business.
  • Provision/order processing of installations, upgrades, disconnects & changes
  • Update work queues in customer database and comment customer accounts
  • Provision new PON nodes as needed
  • Ability to navigate a number of systems for outside plant, customer management, back-office support, etc.
  • Ability to solve order issues and handle escalations
  • Participate in an on-call rotation with other engineers

Required Skills

  • Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong project management and organizational skills are essential
  • Previous experience provisioning PON network equipment (preferrabley Nokia PON equipment)
  • Previous experience provisioning Ciena network equipment a plus
  • Previous experience with NMS applications
  • Previous exerience configuring Cisco ASR9K a plus
  • Unix based operating systems and scripting a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship, and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Understanding of the network industry, technology and terminology

Education

  • Bachelor's Degreee in Telecommunications or Information Technology preferred with at least 2 years experience in a provisioning role or Associate with 5 plus years of telecommunications experience with at least 2 years in a provisioning role.
